I've got a brother!

I didn't even know what a brother was when my parents told me I might be getting one.
And then Saturday evening I found out. It is little, and loud and looks like me only smaller!

That is right. It is a Beagle brother! His name was Pierce and he is actually really honestly my brother. He was born on July 30, 2012 in Missouri at Pine Forest Kennels. His parents are Prissy and Teddy. My parents are Pebbles and Teddy.

My parents and Sissy weren't planning on getting me a brother; it just happened. I'll have to tell you the whole story later; it is a bit of a drama and a whole lot of God's blessings!

Pierce arrived on Saturday night. He is pretty cute; a little on the under fed side and very loud. But I like him. he is cute. We weren't super fond of his name because it doesn't really let you see his personality. After trying about 400 names and asking our friends and family for suggestions; my mom's friend Deb Main suggested Cannon. It fits. He is loud and rambunctious.

I will have Mom upload pictures of him and us together this week; but I couldn't wait to tell you that I have a brother and his name is Cannon!

My cousin Katie is here!!!!!

On Saturday my family and I went to the Volp's house.

I had been there twice before. One time I went for them to meet me and check out my over-all health and personality. My mommy told me that the Volp's used to have a very handsome boxer named Webber.

He was a really good dog and the Volp's really missed him. Jeff, Sarah, Mary and Samantha were considering adding a new pup into their home and really wanted to check me out, since they were considering getting a beagle! I had a good time at their house. We played in their back yard and I got to climb on the girls. They thought I was cute. (Blushing...)  Before we left that day Mom and Sissy gave them Ms. Rhonda's number and web-site address so if they wanted; they could get a Beagle from my original home Pine Forest Kennel in Missouri.

The next time I went was just the week prior to our visit on Saturday. Sissy, Mommy and I took over a lil goody basket of stuff to help welcome my cousin Katie home!!!

Yes! That is right. Jeff, Sarah, Mary and Samantha decided to adopt a cute lil Beagle of their own from Ms. Rhonda and Katie was due to arrive on Friday, August 10. I was getting excited to meet her.

Saturday afternoon Daddy, Mommy, Sissy and I headed on over to the Volp's. I was so excited knowing that I was going to meet my cousin.

As soon as I got out of the car and checked out their front lawn; I KNEW, I KNEW that Katie was home! My tail was wagging uncontrollably and I just wanted to go see her. Please let me meet Katie, please! I promise to be good.

Katie is precious! She is tiny and sweet. Her coat is shiny and healthy and I could tell from her scent that she came from Ms. Rhonda's just like I had. I think I could even catch a slight scent from my own parents on Katie; even though her parents are different that mine which is why we are cousins and not siblings. Katie's parents are Clementine and Mercury.

Katie loves to play and I was really gentle with her even when she was chewing on my ears and sniffing me. I let her climb all over me. We had fun together. Did I tell you that she is tiny like I was and that she is adorable? I love my cousin and I am so happy she is here. I hope we will always be friends.

Our parents are going to see if Ms. Rhonda will let us contact some of her other clients in the Northern and Central CA area. We'd love to start a Pine Forest Kennel Beagles play group.

Puppy Life!

It has been a LONG time since my last post. Why?  Because I am a busy puppy!

At just 6 months old my family says I'm a good puppy. I sleep all night long now and my crate is dry when I wake. I do like to stretch and play for a few moments before I let my family know that I am ready to go out and do my business. My mornings start early. Some days I decide to wake at 6:30 but mostly I prefer 5:30. The earlier I get up the more fun I can have.

As soon as I wake up I'm ready to face the day. I go out and play with Tiger. He is my friend. Tiger is our outside cat. Apparently Tiger adopted our family. He just showed up as a stray kitten. His mama abandoned him when he was still a baby. Now he is about 2 and is an adorable yellow cat with beautiful golden eyes that match his coat.  He is about my size and he loves to sniff me and then he wrestles with me. We tumble and wrestle on the grass. It is really fun! Sometimes my family gets frustrated with me because I'd rather play than  go potty. Picking up sticks and pouncing on bugs and chewing on tree roots are other things I enjoy doing when I am out in the yard with my family. I never go outside unless I am on my leash with my family by my side.

After early morning playtime I eat my breakfast. YUM! I try really hard to have good manners while I'm eating but I can't help wanting to eat and play at the same time so more often than not I take a mouthful of food and prance across the room with it. I'm happy to see my toys every morning and look forward to chewing on them.

Playing tug of war is fun! I take a toy to my family and they grab the other end. Sometimes I cheat and use my paws to hold on to more of the toy. They laugh so hard when I do that. Using my teeth as an advantage is not a good thing. When I do that; they drop the toy and won't play with me for a moment.

Cats. I have 2 indoor cats. Harley and Harvest. They are not too fond of me. I don't understand. I just want to play with them. I want to chase them and sniff them and share my chew toys with them. Chewing on the cats would be unfriendly so I know not to do that. I try to ask them to play with me but they ignore me or growl at me and swipe at me with their paws. Silly cats, I just want to play.

Oh! Speaking of play.....my sissy (Manda) and my mommy (Robin) have been socializing me and taking me to training classes and obedience classes since I was nine weeks old. I also get to go to play classes once or twice a week. THAT is fun! I love playing with the big dogs. I come home soooooo tired.

I love to cuddle, take little walks, chase my toys and run circles around the kitchen island. Last night it was really hot so my mom and sissy gave me some crushed ice. They put it in my toy box which is really a very small kiddie pool. I played with the ice and chewed on it. It was cold and tickled my nose. I hope I get to do that again.

My friend, Jessica, who works at Pet Food Express is moving to D.C. I got to go see her last night before she leaves. She is one of my favorites. I met her when I first moved from Missouri to California. She is really smart and knows what toys and supplies are best for puppies. She is super friendly. I'm going to miss her.

Oh! Guess what? In just 8 more days my cousin, Katie, is coming from Pine Forrest Kennels to live with the Volp Family!!!!!!! I am going to have a cousin from home to play with! I can't wait to meet her. Mommy says she is going to be really little and that I am going to have to be on my bestest manners when we meet.

Hope you are enjoying tail wagging happiness and love!
Hugs!

I'm HOME!!!!!!!!!

That is right!!!!! I officially live in Northern California with my family! It was so cool to meet them. From the moment I saw them at the American Airlines Baggage / Cargo claim area I was in love.

As I was being rolled from the elevator towards my humans I could hear my Mom saying, "That is MY puppy! That is my Carly!! Oh my gosh she is SO cute!!!  I was prancing in my crate just longing to be held by my family and before I could count to 10 ---- my mommy had me wrapped snug in her arms and was cuddling me. Tears of joy were filling her eyes. She smells so good and she held me like I am special. I love her!

My beautiful Sissy was righ there, too!!!! Oh!! I fell in love with her instantly. She is my best friend. Manda snuggled me and held me and kissed me, and I knew, I KNEW that I was HOME!!!

I've got lots more to write about, but it is nap time so --- I will finish later, okay.  And I will post pictures, too!

Sorry, my attention span as a puppy is pretty short, but I am going to try to finish this post today.

So - I get off the plane from Missouri and my Mommy and Sissy are waiting for me and I loved them immediately. My Grandma Gail was there, too and then I got to go meet my Daddy.  I am a much loved puppy.

My home is so nice and full of happiness and joy!  I get to be an "inside" puppy and only have to go out to do my business and talk walks (after I have had all my shots) and enjoy the sunshine.  Well, I hear there is sunshine in California. It was raining when I arrived.

I've met my cousins Jessica and Casey Hood; my Uncle Bob and Aunt Suzette, my Aunt Heidi and cousins Bella and Ryder; my Aunt Mimi; Uncle Jeff and cousin Zac and lots of the neighbors. My family is very proud of me and happy to have me.

I was eight weeks old when I arrived; and as of today (March 28) I am 9 and 1/2 weeks old. I am a very happy puppy. I love to play; and make my family laugh when I play tug of war with my toys; or when I take my food bowl on a walk; or when I chase my cute white tipped tail; or when I attempt to bark at something to get its attention.

My family says I am very smart; cute; adorable, impish, loving, playful, sweet..... I love them so much! I love playing with them and snuggling with them. I love their voices and I love being held by them. I get to go on car rides and to my mommy's work.

I have been to the vet with Sissy. I got a 100% clean bill of health and my 1st shots. I've been to meet my trainer Eleza and I've been to a puppy class. My family wants me to be well loved and well mannered.

Okay --- ready for a TON of pictures???? Here I am in all my cuteness!

This is Me!

(Picture courtesy of Rhonda K. Smith of Pine Forest Kennels

Hi everybody!  This is me, Carly.  I am 6 weeks old in this photo.  I still live in Missouri at Pine Forest Kennels.  The next photos you see of me will probably be of me meeting my new mommy, sissy, and grandma as I arrive at the airport.  My daddy will have to meet me just a few hours later when he gets off of work.

Looking forward to March 16th!
